I bought this even though similar items from other vendors do not get great reviews. However, I found the item to be well made and works as advertised.

I see no reason why it will not provide me years of reliable service. Probably not useful for daily use or professional environments.

My one major gripe is the fact that the mounting hole is not deep enough. I picked up some older Smith-Victor C7 clamps and the stud on those (and many others that I have seen) have an undercut about 1/2" down (this probably has a 'real' name). The stud cannot be inserted far enough to make a secure connection with this lampholder.

I suspect this is more a case of inexpensive equipment not being fully compatible with pro equipment.

I also purchased a stud adapter (without this undercut) for a tripod fitting that works as intended with this lampholder so it is not an issue unless you only have professional clamps.
