ALZO Light Bulb Socket with Switch and Umbrella Mount

Notify me when this product is available:

  • Constructed of durable glass-filled nylon
  • Standard medium base (E27) socket
  • Includes an umbrella mount
  • Standard 5/8 inch stand mount
  • Tilts 180 degrees

The ALZO switched socket mounts to any light stand or boom and is a convenient device for the ALZO CFL and LED light bulb. If this device is often used with an umbrella. We recommend using ALZO silvered reflective umbrellas, as these produce almost 2 f-stops more reflected soft light.

  • Power switch rated at 10 amps
  • 10 foot, 2 wire power cord
  • Use with CFL and LED bulbs only; not for incandescent hot light bulbs
  • Use with incandescent bulbs voids warranty and will melt plastic

These light bulb sockets are working out fine for my photography hobby needs.

Switched Socket with umbrella mount

Pros: Works as intended. Seems well made. Locking mechanism keeps the lamp stable.
Cons: Mounting hole not deep enough for all mounting studs
Best Uses: Occasional use
Describe Yourself: Occasional Photographer
I bought this even though similar items from other vendors do not get great reviews. However, I found the item to be well made and works as advertised. I see no reason why it will not provide me years of reliable service. Probably not useful for daily use or professional environments. My one major gripe is the fact that the mounting hole is not deep enough. I picked up some older Smith-Victor C7 clamps and the stud on those (and many others that I have seen) have an undercut about 1/2" down (this probably has a 'real' name). The stud cannot be inserted far enough to make a secure connection with this lampholder. I suspect this is more a case of inexpensive equipment not being fully compatible with pro equipment. I also purchased a stud adapter (without this undercut) for a tripod fitting that works as intended with this lampholder so it is not an issue unless you only have professional clamps.
Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
